A team of four colleagues from Friends Provident International entered the annual Isle of Man Parish Walk as a corporate team names "Friends 4 Chris". The colleagues who all work in Finance (Julia Kiefer, Helen Cross, Ian Bell and May Hooper) tackled this internationally renowned walking race to raise funds for the Manx MSA Trust.
Each member of the team put in a huge effort with two of the team members completing the 85 mile walk in the 24 hour limit;
• Julia Kiefer completed the walk in in 22 hours, 11 minutes
• May Hooper completed the walk in 22 hours 14 minutes
• Ian Bell managed 55.5 miles in 14 hours 54 minutes
• Helen Cross completed 39 miles in 10 hours 33 minutes
Not only this but the Friends Provident International Team finished 1st overall in the corporate team event! 13 teams entered the corporate event which is decided by the team that registers the most cumulative mileage. After a determined effort the Friends Provident International team beat their nearest rivals by 95.5 miles.
In total the group raised £1,716.26 for the charity which Friends Provident International has agreed to match. This means that we have received £3,432.52, which will bring us more opportunities for research into this disorder and thank the Friends Provident International team on behalf of all patients, families and friends touched by MSA.
