We understand this is an unsettling time for patients and carers affected by MSA. As we continue to practice best social distance measures, even with our close family members and friends, at the Manx MSA Trust we want you to know we’re here to support you also.
The Multiple System Atrophy Trust UK has particular advice on the COVID19 situation which can be accessed via https://www.msatrust.org.uk/support-f…/coronavirus-covid-19/
Your medical care team on the Island are amazing, and will be able to offer and advise specific to your situation. We believe that the Isle of Man medical clinicians are doing a great job to limit and manage the spread of this disease within the Manx community.
We are conscious at this time that both patients and carers may well be struggling financially. Whilst we have been utilising our funds for existing and proposed research projects, along with making availability for powered wheelchair resource. Our small team of volunteers at Manx MSA Trust have also been in discussion to allow small financial grants available for those patients and primary carers who have gone into financial hardship as a direct result of COVID19. For this reason we have set aside a budget and we will be willing consider an application for financial assistance on a case by case basis. If you or your primary carer find yourself in this situation then please do make contact with us so we can review your case for financial support. This application process will be done in strict confidence and we would hope to have a decision back to you within just a few days.
Any concerns or request for additional support please don’t hesitate to get in touch via our email address help@manxmsa.com.
Stay safe and keep well
